Located about 30 miles from Kansas City, stadiums, and large shopping centers, Leavenworth, KS, is the "First City of Kansas,” established back in 1854! Our community has a rich state history, including a 38-block historic district that’s great for shopping locally owned shops. Leavenworth residents are very involved and supportive (especially of the downtown area), and the town has developed a reputation for being a great place for military retirement—making it a community that’s well-traveled and culturally inclusive. The town itself is home to the University of Saint Mary and is idealistically Kansas, surrounded by rolling hills, wheat fields, and beautiful sunflowers.
