Spay Neuter Veterinary Services, LLC
Spay Neuter Surgeon Veterinarian Needed Spay Neuter Veterinary Services, LLC, the veterinary clinic service provider for the non-profit Alabama Spay/Neuter Clinic, Inc. in Irondale, AL (greater Birmingham metro area) is looking for either a full-time (4 days a week) or part-time (2 days a week - Wed&Thur) veterinarian to join our 2.5 doctor team! The ideal candidate (besides having a passion for the spay and neuter mission and excellent tissue handling skills) will have a positive attitude and sense of humor while maintaining our high professional standards. If you haven’t been trained in efficient high volume surgery, our veterinarians have been to the ASPCA’s spay/neuter training center in Asheville, NC and will teach you how to comfortably and confidently perform approximately 35 efficient spay/neuter surgeries a day. About The Practice: Our clinic offers spay/neuter surgeries to shelter animals, rescues, and targets individuals who cannot afford to have their pets sterilized elsewhere. We are NOT a traditional veterinary practice but still offer top-notch care. Our mission is to reduce the pet over- population problem in the Birmingham metro area and beyond and therefore decrease shelter euthanasia and increase pet adoption. Our patients are dogs and cats only. This is a fast-paced environment focused on providing high quality, high volume spay and neuter surgeries. Patients may receive additional wellness services only when presenting for surgery. Spay Neuter Veterinary Services, LLC is the exclusive veterinary service provider for Alabama Spay/Neuter, Inc, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization. Check out Alabama Spay/Neuter's website to learn more about who we serve at www.alspay.org Hours and Benefits: Doctor hours are 8:00-5:00, Mon-Thurs. We are closed on Fridays and on the weekends! We are also closed 1-2 weeks around Christmas and New Year's and are closed for 8 major holidays. Yes, we love being veterinarians and helping others, but we value time off with our loved ones too! We also offer PTO, licensing fees, professional dues, CE, and health insurance to full-time candidates. Doctors rotate call for weekends (8 am to 8 pm, Fri-Sun) and earn extra compensation to handle any surgically-related patient emergencies outside of office hours (very rare). Enjoy great shopping, dining, and schools all around the greater Birmingham metro area. We are a half day’s drive from the majestic Great Smokey Mountains as well as the sugar white sands and blue-green waters of the beautiful Gulf Coast. Have fun being a vet and find the joy in serving others and helping animals through spay/neuter. New grads welcome to apply. Interested Candidates: Send CV to wifemomdvm@gmail.com, please indicate if you are looking for full-time or part-time and list salary requirement.

This is a physically demanding job that will require the candidate to be able to bend, kneel, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, and stand for long periods. A typical doctor day will entail a large volume of patient check-in (performing a brief exam to determine patient's eligibility for anesthesia and surgery), then performing surgery for approximately 5-6 hours, followed by post-op checks and administering additional care if needed to patients. Veterinarians may also be asked to perform training with team members at times (ex: review CPR protocol with staff members). Surgeons are asked to perform surgeries in the order they are received. Large dogs are typically done first, followed by smaller dogs, then cats. Veterinarians will be asked/expected to help team members if needed (i.e. help with induction if the team has a set-back and is running behind, ensure team members stay on task and finish their daily duties). Veterinarians take turns with other veterinarians for who stays late and monitors recovery and who leaves after surgery is completed. |
Additional Salary Information: Please keep in mind that you will only be working 4 days a week. We are open 200 days per year.
